North Refund Centre contributes to Alberta Cans for
Kids $100,000 fundraising goal
Edmonton....The Alberta Bottle Depot Association (ABDA)
today presented the Stollery Children's Hospital Foundation with a
cheque for $6,018.30 from its Alberta Cans for Kids
program. The cheque was presented at the North Refund
Centre. Customers of North Refund Centre contributed the
money through donations of beverage containers at the local
Depot.
Alberta Cans for Kids is a fundraising initiative
implemented by the ABDA to raise money and awareness for important
causes through one simple act - recycling beverage
containers. Participating bottle depots across Alberta have
bins set aside for the Alberta Cans for Kids program in
which customers can deposit their empty beverage containers.
The depot operator recycles those containers and the refundable
deposit amounts collected at northern Alberta depots are donated to
the Stollery Children's Hospital Foundation.
Congratulations to the Alberta Bottle Depot Association, North
Refund Centre, and the Stollery Children's Hospital Foundation on a
successful partnership initiative," said Janice Sarich, MLA for
Edmonton-Decore. "You have created a unique opportunity for
charitable giving at a community level, and I commend you for the
'make a donation - make a difference' vision behind the Cans for
Kids program. Ultimately, the individual donations
collected through Cans for Kids will have an immeasurable impact on
the lives of those children who require the specialized care and
services of the Stollery Children's Hospital."
Alberta Cans for Kids is hoping to raise $100,000 in
northern Alberta for the Stollery Children's Hospital Foundation,
by March of this year. A similar fundraising goal has been
set in southern Alberta for the Alberta Children's Hospital
Foundation. The program has raised a total of
$238,603.85 province-wide since it was implemented in 2009.
"Support for Alberta Cans for Kids has been
amazing. With the generosity of this community, we are that
much closer to achieving our $100,000 goal" said Jeff Linton,
Executive Director of the ABDA.
We are truly proud to be beneficiaries of the Alberta Cans for
Kids campaign. And, we are especially proud of our north
Edmonton bottle depot for being one of the top 10 fundraising
depots in Alberta," said Lori Finck, Corporate Giving Coordinator
at the Stollery Children's Hospital Foundation. "Proceeds
from the campaign fund critical equipment, leading-edge research
and training the best of the best. Every can, bottle and
donation makes a difference.
